In the ICU, I drew and analyzed labs around the clock. I know the difference between a "normal" lab value and an optimal one. Functional medicine casts a wider net — thyroid panels, hormones, inflammatory markers, micronutrients, GI stool testing, and more.

I provide personalized workout plans and nutrition macros — but I will never tell you to eat less. Your body doesn't feel safe to lose weight when it's stressed and starving. The more you eat (especially protein), the safer your body feels. That's not motivation. That's biology.

When you starve yourself, your body burns glycogen first — about 24–48 hours — then fat. But chronic restriction signals danger, so your body clings to fat and burns muscle instead. When you eat enough, your body feels safe. Safe bodies lose weight. Stressed bodies store it.
